About this design
The crescent is stitched in DMC 745 Yellow Pale Light with a rim of 3822 Straw Light along its outer edge, which gives it a gentle glow. Seven stars are scattered around it: most are single B5200 Snow White stitches, and two larger ones have a white centre with four points of 3078 Golden Yellow Very Light. Because the colours are so pale, this design is meant for dark fabric: on navy or black Aida the moon and stars appear to shine, while on white they would almost disappear.
How to work it
Use a light behind your fabric or a white cloth on your lap, because counting on dark Aida is harder than on white. Stitch the crescent outline in 3822 first, then fill the 745. Add the stars last, making sure each single stitch is a full cross so it shows clearly.
Finishing ideas
At 30 × 30 stitches the design is about 2.1 × 2.1 inches (5.4 × 5.4 cm) on 14-count Aida and 1.7 × 1.7 inches on 18-count. A lovely nursery piece in a round hoop, or a moon-phase themed card; try it on 28-count black evenweave for a finer look.
Colour plan
DMC 745 Yellow Pale Light does the most work, 59% of the 197 stitches, followed by DMC 3822 Straw Light at 34%. DMC 3078 Golden Yellow Vy Lt (8) and DMC B5200 Snow White (7) are used only a little: small details worth marking on the chart so you don't miss them. 78% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
17 squares stand alone in their colour, with no same-coloured neighbour along a side; stitch those as you pass rather than starting a new thread for each. The busiest row changes colour 8 times.
