Why our conversions show a match rating
Brands make their colours independently, so a “conversion” is always a choice of the nearest available shade — sometimes a perfect twin, sometimes the best of several imperfect options. Most printed charts hide that. We compute every match from colour values with the CIEDE2000 formula and show the difference, so you can see at a glance which substitutions are safe and which deserve a look in daylight.
The same data powers the generators: every pattern key shows the nearest colour in a second brand, and switching a pattern's palette remaps every colour automatically.
Colour on screen is only ever an approximation of a physical thread or bead. Lighting, dye lots, sheen and fabric all change how a colour reads. Use these charts to narrow your choice, then check real materials before buying for a large project.

Do you list yarn colours?
For crochet and knitting we use our own 48 named generic shades, because yarn colours vary enormously between ranges. Pick the closest yarn you can buy for each.
