About this design

A treasure chest has to say “open me” in very few pixels. This one does it with contrast: warm brown planks against bright gold bands, and a pale gold lock right in the middle where the eye lands first. The vertical darker lines on the planks suggest wood grain and the joins between boards, and the bands run across the lid and the base so the chest reads as a solid box. The two darker gold pixels at the bottom corners are the feet, which lift it off the floor and stop it looking like a flat sign.

How to use it

Use the chest as an item icon, a level decoration or a reward screen; export it at 4× for a 64-pixel tile or at 16× for a 256-pixel image. If you are building a game, duplicate it in the editor and draw an open version with the lid raised and coins inside, then switch between the two frames. The design also makes a quick fuse bead project that fits easily on a small square pegboard, and a neat cross-stitch motif for a gamer’s card.
