About this design
Geometric charts are relaxing because every shape is the same. This one is a honeycomb of hexagons, each filled with one of seven cool shades: DMC 3810 Turquoise Dark, 3812 Sea Green Very Dark, 3846 Turquoise Bright Light, 3843 Electric Blue, 3765 Peacock Blue Very Dark, 598 Turquoise Light and 3849 Teal Green Light. The colours follow a regular sequence so neighbouring hexagons never match, and every hexagon is outlined in 3865 Winter White, which reads like the grout between tiles.
How to work it
The chart has 3,600 drills in 8 colours. Place all the white outlines first, then fill each hexagon with its colour; the outlines make it almost impossible to lose your place.
Size and display
With 2.5 mm square drills the picture is 60 × 60 drills, about 15 × 15 cm. It suits a modern bathroom or kitchen, and two or three in a row make a striking set. The materials table lists every colour with a 10% allowance for drills that go astray.
Colour plan
DMC 3865 Winter White does the most work, 34% of the 3,600 drills, followed by DMC 3849 Teal Green Light at 11%. Every colour is used at least 314 times, so there are no tiny one-off details to hunt for. Every square of the grid is filled.
Working notes
No square stands alone in its colour, so every colour works up in solid blocks. The busiest row changes colour 12 times.
Anchor equivalents
The nearest Anchor colour for each DMC colour in this pattern, measured as ΔE 2000: up to 3 is very close, up to 6 close, up to 10 approximate.
