About this design
The scoop is Rose Light (3326) with a darker Rose (899) edge on the right and drips running down onto the cone. A small red cherry with a Blanc shine sits on top. The cone is Tan Light (437) with a diagonal waffle grid in Brown Light (434), narrowing to a point. It is a tall, narrow design that suits a bookmark.
Stitch counts: 93 in 3326 (Rose Light), 46 in 437 (Tan Light), 34 in 899 (Rose Medium), 26 in 434 (Brown Light), 7 in 321 (Red) and 4 in BLANC (White), 210 full cross stitches in all. One skein of each colour is plenty.
How to work it
Use two strands on 14-count Aida and start from the middle: fold the fabric in four to find the centre and match it to the centre of the chart. The waffle lines repeat every four stitches; stitch them first, then fill the tan between.
Finishing ideas
On 14-count Aida the 13 × 25 stitch design comes out at about 0.9 × 1.8 inches, and on 18-count about 0.7 × 1.4 inches. Mount it in a 4-inch hoop, or use it for a bookmark or a summer card.
Colour plan
DMC 3326 Rose Light does the most work, 44% of the 210 stitches, followed by DMC 437 Tan Light at 22%. DMC 321 Red (7) and DMC BLANC White (4) are used only a little: small details worth marking on the chart so you don't miss them. 35% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
41 squares stand alone in their colour, with no same-coloured neighbour along a side; stitch those as you pass rather than starting a new thread for each. The busiest row changes colour 12 times.
Anchor equivalents
The nearest Anchor colour for each DMC colour in this pattern, measured as ΔE 2000: up to 3 is very close, up to 6 close, up to 10 approximate.
