About this design
Two round cherries in Red (321) with Garnet (815) shading on the lower right and a little Blanc shine hang from stems that meet at the top. A leaf in two greens (3346 and 3348) sits on the joint. At only 71 stitches, it is the smallest design here and makes a quick finish.
Stitch counts: 38 in 321 (Red), 10 in 815 (Garnet Medium), 9 in 3345 (Hunter Green Dk), 8 in 3346 (Hunter Green), 4 in BLANC (White) and 2 in 3348 (Yellow Green Lt), 71 full cross stitches in all. One skein of each colour is plenty.
How to work it
Find the centre of your fabric and of the chart, and begin there so the design sits in the middle. The stems are single diagonal lines of stitches; work them after the cherries so you can see where they need to meet. Two strands on 14-count is the usual choice.
Finishing ideas
At 15 × 13 stitches the design is about 1.1 × 0.9 inches on 14-count Aida and 0.8 × 0.7 inches on 18-count. A 4-inch hoop leaves room to frame it, and it also makes a gift tag, a card or a pin cushion.
Colour plan
DMC 321 Red does the most work, 54% of the 71 stitches, followed by DMC 815 Garnet Medium at 14%. DMC 3345 Hunter Green Dk (9), DMC 3346 Hunter Green (8), DMC BLANC White (4) and DMC 3348 Yellow Green Lt (2) are used only a little: small details worth marking on the chart so you don't miss them. 64% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
13 squares stand alone in their colour, with no same-coloured neighbour along a side; stitch those as you pass rather than starting a new thread for each. The busiest row changes colour 8 times.
