About this design
A two-tone branch in 838 and 839 runs diagonally from bottom left to top right, with a couple of short twigs. Seven round blossoms sit along it, each in Rose Light (3326) and Baby Pink (818) with a Cranberry (602) centre, and four single petals float loose around them. The open layout leaves plenty of bare fabric, which keeps it light and airy.
Stitch counts: 84 in 3326 (Rose Light), 59 in 818 (Baby Pink), 26 in 838 (Beige Brown Vy Dk), 20 in 839 (Beige Brown Dk) and 7 in 602 (Cranberry Medium), 196 full cross stitches in all. One skein of each colour is plenty.
How to work it
Find the centre of your fabric and of the chart, and begin there so the design sits in the middle. Stitch the branch first, counting carefully along the diagonal, then place each blossom from its centre stitch. Two strands on 14-count is the usual choice.
Finishing ideas
On 14-count Aida the 30 × 20 stitch design comes out at about 2.1 × 1.4 inches, and on 18-count about 1.7 × 1.1 inches. Mount it in a 4-inch hoop, or use it for a wide card or a bookmark.
Colour plan
DMC 3326 Rose Light does the most work, 43% of the 196 stitches, followed by DMC 818 Baby Pink at 30%. DMC 602 Cranberry Medium (7) is used only a little: small details worth marking on the chart so you don't miss them. 67% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
77 squares stand alone in their colour, with no same-coloured neighbour along a side; stitch those as you pass rather than starting a new thread for each. The busiest row changes colour 17 times.
Anchor equivalents
The nearest Anchor colour for each DMC colour in this pattern, measured as ΔE 2000: up to 3 is very close, up to 6 close, up to 10 approximate.
