About this design

The teapot is a round body of DMC 3755 Baby Blue, shaded on its right side with 334 Baby Blue Medium, which makes it look rounded. A flat lid with a little knob sits on top, a curved handle loops out on the left, and a long spout angles up to the right. Around the middle runs a band of 3326 Rose Light dots, like a hand-painted pattern, and a thin line underneath forms the base. It pairs naturally with the teacup design in the library.

How to work it

Stitch the body first, then the lid and knob, and finish with the handle and spout, which are the only parts that need careful counting. Add the pink dots last.

Finishing ideas

At 30 × 24 stitches the design is about 2.1 × 1.7 inches (5.4 × 4.4 cm) on 14-count Aida and 1.7 × 1.3 inches on 18-count. A lovely tea towel motif, a tea cosy decoration or a framed kitchen piece next to the teacup.

Colour plan

DMC 3755 Baby Blue does the most work, 53% of the 289 stitches, followed by DMC 334 Baby Blue Medium at 42%. Every colour is used at least 13 times, so there are no tiny one-off details to hunt for. 60% of the grid is left empty.

Working notes

14 squares stand alone in their colour, with no same-coloured neighbour along a side; stitch those as you pass rather than starting a new thread for each. The busiest row changes colour 16 times.
