About this design

The salmon is drawn with diagonal pale stripes across the orange to show the fat lines, and it curves over the rice at the edges. The rice block is white with grey grain pixels, and a dark band of nori wraps around the middle.

How to use it

Use it for a sushi night invitation, a restaurant menu or a food-themed sticker set. Make two or three side by side in fuse beads for a sushi platter. Change the fish to red for tuna or white for squid in the editor.

Size and bead counts

The picture fills 136 of the 256 squares in its grid, within an area 14 squares wide and 11 tall; the rest stay empty. It uses 6 colours: white 39 (#FFFFFF), black 38 (#111111), orange 32 (#FF8855), dark green 12 (#223322), light orange 8 (#FFBB99), light grey 7 (#DDDDDD). Made with 5 mm fuse beads it measures about 7.0 × 5.5 cm and fits on one standard 29 × 29 pegboard. Stitched on 14-count Aida it is about 2.5 × 2.0 cm, or 3.2 × 2.5 cm on 11-count, so add a few centimetres of fabric on every side for the hoop.

Colour plan

#FFFFFF does the most work, 29% of the 136 pixels, followed by #111111 at 28%. #FFBB99 (8) and #DDDDDD (7) are used only a little: small details worth marking on the chart so you don't miss them. 47% of the grid is left empty.

Working notes

It is 16 × 16 pixels; at 8× scale it becomes 128 × 128. The busiest row changes colour 10 times.
