About this design
The slice is a wide semicircle: bright red flesh with black seeds in staggered rows, a thin pale line of rind and two greens for the skin. The top edge is flat, as if the slice has just been cut, which makes it instantly recognisable.
How to use it
It is a classic summer motif for picnic invitations, a fruit-themed classroom display or a beach towel cross stitch. In fuse beads it is quick and needs six colours. Pair it with the cherries and ice cream for a summer set.
Size and bead counts
The picture fills 127 of the 256 squares in its grid, within an area 16 squares wide and 11 tall; the rest stay empty. It uses 6 colours: red 63 (#FF4455), light black 38 (#112211), white 9 (#EEFFDD), dark black 7 (#221111), green 6 (#55AA44), dark green 4 (#337722). Made with 5 mm fuse beads it measures about 8.0 × 5.5 cm and fits on one standard 29 × 29 pegboard. Stitched on 14-count Aida it is about 2.9 × 2.0 cm, or 3.7 × 2.5 cm on 11-count, so add a few centimetres of fabric on every side for the hoop.
Colour plan
#FF4455 does the most work, 50% of the 127 pixels, followed by #112211 at 30%. #EEFFDD (9), #221111 (7), #55AA44 (6) and #337722 (4) are used only a little: small details worth marking on the chart so you don't miss them. 50% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
It is 16 × 16 pixels; at 8× scale it becomes 128 × 128. The busiest row changes colour 8 times.
