About this design
The salmon slice is Orange Cream striped with diagonal White lines, the way the fat lines show on real salmon, and it drapes over a rounded block of White rice. A band of Dark Spruce nori wraps around the middle, and a few Toasted Marshmallow beads in the rice suggest individual grains. It is a small, quick design that looks great in a set with other foods.
You will need roughly 54 Black, 51 White, 28 Orange Cream, 15 Dark Spruce and 2 Toasted Marshmallow beads. Buy a few spares of each, because the odd bead always rolls away.
Placing the beads
At 17 × 10 beads the design fits easily on one large square pegboard. Make several and change the topping to tuna red or egg yellow in the editor for a whole sushi platter.
Ironing and finishing
Ironing is a job for an adult. Cover the beads with ironing paper, set a dry iron to medium and move it in slow circles until the beads just begin to merge, then let it cool, turn it over and press the back. Cool it flat under a heavy book so it stays straight. At about 8.5 × 5 cm in midi beads it makes a magnet, a keyring or a pair of earrings in mini beads.
Colour plan
Perler 80-19018 Black does the most work, 36% of the 150 beads, followed by Perler 80-19001 White at 34%. Perler 80-15208 Toasted Marshmallow (2) is used only a little: small details worth marking on the chart so you don't miss them. 12% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
All the beads touch along a full side, so it irons into one solid piece.
