About this design
The cap is a wide red dome with a darker shadow along its edge and uneven white spots, which is how fairytale toadstools are usually drawn. The cream stalk underneath has two dot eyes, so it can be a character as well as scenery.
How to use it
Use it in woodland nursery decor, fairy garden signs or a cottagecore cross stitch. It is a bright fuse bead magnet. Note that this is a storybook toadstool: real spotted mushrooms of this kind are poisonous, so it is not a foraging guide.
Size and bead counts
The picture fills 168 of the 256 squares in its grid, within an area 16 squares wide and 15 tall; the rest stay empty. It uses 6 colours: light red 52 (#DD2222), black 51 (#221111), light white 24 (#FFFFFF), dark white 19 (#FFEEDD), dark red 18 (#991111), light tan 4 (#DDCCAA). Made with 5 mm fuse beads it measures about 8.0 × 7.5 cm and fits on one standard 29 × 29 pegboard. Stitched on 14-count Aida it is about 2.9 × 2.7 cm, or 3.7 × 3.5 cm on 11-count, so add a few centimetres of fabric on every side for the hoop.
Colour plan
#DD2222 does the most work, 31% of the 168 pixels, followed by #221111 at 30%. #DDCCAA (4) is used only a little: small details worth marking on the chart so you don't miss them. 34% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
It is 16 × 16 pixels; at 8× scale it becomes 128 × 128. The busiest row changes colour 9 times.
