About this design
The chick’s round yellow head has two dot eyes and a bright orange beak, with darker yellow wings tucked at the sides. It sits inside the bottom half of a cream eggshell with a zigzag broken edge and a few darker speckles, and two little feet peek out underneath.
How to use it
Use it for Easter cards, egg-hunt signs or spring classroom displays. It is a quick fuse bead project for Easter weekend and a sweet cross stitch for a basket tag. Pair it with the Easter egg pattern.
Size and bead counts
The picture fills 114 of the 256 squares in its grid, within an area 12 squares wide and 14 tall; the rest stay empty. It uses 6 colours: dark brown 42 (#332211), light tan 34 (#EEDDBB), light yellow 24 (#FFDD33), orange 6 (#FF8811), tan 6 (#CCBB99), dark yellow 2 (#EEAA11). Made with 5 mm fuse beads it measures about 6.0 × 7.0 cm and fits on one standard 29 × 29 pegboard. Stitched on 14-count Aida it is about 2.2 × 2.5 cm, or 2.8 × 3.2 cm on 11-count, so add a few centimetres of fabric on every side for the hoop.
Colour plan
#332211 does the most work, 37% of the 114 pixels, followed by #EEDDBB at 30%. #FF8811 (6), #CCBB99 (6) and #EEAA11 (2) are used only a little: small details worth marking on the chart so you don't miss them. 55% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
It is 16 × 16 pixels; at 8× scale it becomes 128 × 128. The busiest row changes colour 8 times.
