About this design
The face is a near-perfect circle at this size, with two tall eyes and a broad grin that curves up at the corners. The mouth is filled solid so the smile reads from a distance, which is the trick that makes tiny faces work.
How to use it
It is one of the easiest pixel art pictures to colour by square, and a cheerful first stitch or bead project. Fill the face with yellow in the editor for the familiar look, or use it as a template for your own expressions.
Size and bead counts
The picture fills 208 of the 256 squares in its grid, within an area 16 squares wide and 16 tall; the rest stay empty. It uses 2 colours: white 134 (#FFFFFF), black 74 (#111111). Made with 5 mm fuse beads it measures about 8.0 × 8.0 cm and fits on one standard 29 × 29 pegboard. Stitched on 14-count Aida it is about 2.9 × 2.9 cm, or 3.7 × 3.7 cm on 11-count, so add a few centimetres of fabric on every side for the hoop.
Colour plan
#FFFFFF does the most work, 64% of the 208 pixels, followed by #111111 at 36%. Every colour is used at least 74 times, so there are no tiny one-off details to hunt for. 19% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
It is 16 × 16 pixels; at 8× scale it becomes 128 × 128. The busiest row changes colour 8 times.
