About this design
The butterfly is perfectly mirrored down the middle, with large upper wings, smaller lower wings and a black spot pattern inside each. The body is a solid two-pixel column with antennae that curve outwards at the bottom of the grid, as if the butterfly is resting with its wings open.
How to use it
As a colour-by-square sheet it doubles as a symmetry lesson: colour one wing, then copy it onto the other. Fill the white wing areas with bright colours in the editor for a rainbow version, or keep it black and white for an elegant stitched card.
Size and bead counts
The picture fills 144 of the 256 squares in its grid, within an area 16 squares wide and 14 tall; the rest stay empty. It uses 2 colours: black 92 (#111111), white 52 (#FFFFFF). Made with 5 mm fuse beads it measures about 8.0 × 7.0 cm and fits on one standard 29 × 29 pegboard. Stitched on 14-count Aida it is about 2.9 × 2.5 cm, or 3.7 × 3.2 cm on 11-count, so add a few centimetres of fabric on every side for the hoop.
Colour plan
#111111 does the most work, 64% of the 144 pixels, followed by #FFFFFF at 36%. Every colour is used at least 52 times, so there are no tiny one-off details to hunt for. 44% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
It is 16 × 16 pixels; at 8× scale it becomes 128 × 128. The busiest row changes colour 10 times.
