About this design
The cat is drawn entirely as an outline: two pointed ears with a white inner triangle, a wide head that fills the grid, square eyes and a small nose with whiskers that sweep out to the cheeks. Because the inside is white rather than empty, the whole shape holds together when you colour it on graph paper or fill it with beads.
How to use it
Print it as a colour-by-square sheet for children, who only need a black pen. Stitched in black on white Aida it makes a quick bookmark or card motif, and on a pegboard it needs only two bead colours. Open it in the editor to add coloured eyes or a pink nose once the outline is done.
Size and bead counts
The picture fills 198 of the 256 squares in its grid, within an area 16 squares wide and 16 tall; the rest stay empty. It uses 2 colours: white 126 (#FFFFFF), black 72 (#111111). Made with 5 mm fuse beads it measures about 8.0 × 8.0 cm and fits on one standard 29 × 29 pegboard. Stitched on 14-count Aida it is about 2.9 × 2.9 cm, or 3.7 × 3.7 cm on 11-count, so add a few centimetres of fabric on every side for the hoop.
Colour plan
#FFFFFF does the most work, 64% of the 198 pixels, followed by #111111 at 36%. Every colour is used at least 72 times, so there are no tiny one-off details to hunt for. 23% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
It is 16 × 16 pixels; at 8× scale it becomes 128 × 128. The busiest row changes colour 8 times.
