About this design
The panda has two solid black ears that sit off the top of the head, large black eye patches with a single white pixel for a highlight, and a black nose above a tiny mouth. Every shape is chunky, so the face still reads when it is shrunk to an icon or made in big pony beads.
How to use it
It is a good first pixel art for children because there is no shading to think about: fill the black squares and you are done. Make it as a fuse bead magnet, a cross stitch patch for a school bag, or a two-colour knitting motif. For a bamboo background, add a green border in the editor.
Size and bead counts
The picture fills 178 of the 256 squares in its grid, within an area 14 squares wide and 15 tall; the rest stay empty. It uses 2 colours: black 90 (#111111), white 88 (#FFFFFF). Made with 5 mm fuse beads it measures about 7.0 × 7.5 cm and fits on one standard 29 × 29 pegboard. Stitched on 14-count Aida it is about 2.5 × 2.7 cm, or 3.2 × 3.5 cm on 11-count, so add a few centimetres of fabric on every side for the hoop.
Colour plan
#111111 does the most work, 51% of the 178 pixels, followed by #FFFFFF at 49%. Every colour is used at least 88 times, so there are no tiny one-off details to hunt for. 30% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
It is 16 × 16 pixels; at 8× scale it becomes 128 × 128. The busiest row changes colour 12 times.
