About this design
The head is a solid black cap with a white face, two black eyes and a small beak. Flippers stick out at the sides, the tummy is a wide white oval, and two short feet stand at the bottom. It is chunky and round, like a toy rather than a real bird.
How to use it
Make it in winter for Christmas cards, fridge magnets or a snowy bookmark. Add an orange beak and feet in the editor for a little colour, or a red scarf for a festive version.
Size and bead counts
The picture fills 138 of the 256 squares in its grid, within an area 14 squares wide and 15 tall; the rest stay empty. It uses 2 colours: black 80 (#111111), white 58 (#FFFFFF). Made with 5 mm fuse beads it measures about 7.0 × 7.5 cm and fits on one standard 29 × 29 pegboard. Stitched on 14-count Aida it is about 2.5 × 2.7 cm, or 3.2 × 3.5 cm on 11-count, so add a few centimetres of fabric on every side for the hoop.
Colour plan
#111111 does the most work, 58% of the 138 pixels, followed by #FFFFFF at 42%. Every colour is used at least 58 times, so there are no tiny one-off details to hunt for. 46% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
It is 16 × 16 pixels; at 8× scale it becomes 128 × 128. The busiest row changes colour 8 times.
