About this design
This landscape builds depth with colour. The sky is a stack of wide stripes running from violet at the top through rose, coral and apricot to pale butter just above the mountains, with a sunflower-yellow sun half hidden behind the right-hand peak. In front, three ranges of mountains overlap: the farthest are a soft mauve, the middle range is plum, and the nearest are deep navy, so each layer looks closer and darker than the one behind it. The peaks are simple triangles with long, straight slopes, which suits the shaggy texture of a latch hook pile.
How to make it
Work on 3.75-mesh rug canvas, which has 3.75 holes per inch, with one knot of pre-cut yarn in each square of the chart. At 40 × 30 knots the finished piece is about 27 × 20 cm (10.7 × 8 in), so cut your canvas with at least five extra squares on every side for turning under. The chart needs 1,200 knots in total; the materials list on this page gives the count for each colour, so you can buy pre-cut packs or cut your own pieces around 6.5 cm (2½ in) long. Work across the canvas row by row from the bottom up, so the pile of the finished rows lies away from you. Work the sky stripes first; they are long single-colour runs and go quickly.
Colour plan
Navy does the most work, 17% of the 1,200 knots, followed by Plum at 15%. Every colour is used at least 31 times, so there are no tiny one-off details to hunt for. Every square of the grid is filled.
Working notes
Hook it in 30 rows from the bottom; the busiest row changes colour 10 times, so cut yarn for a few rows at a time. No square stands alone in its colour.
