About this design
This rug is built from horizontal bands separated by single lines of Cream. Wide bands of Rust frame it at the top and middle, two Mustard bands carry a row of cream dots each, and a Sage band in the middle has a row of rust triangles rising into it. The warm, earthy palette suits plants, natural wood and woven baskets, and the simple stripes make it relaxing to hook.
How to make it
Work on 3.75-mesh rug canvas with one knot of pre-cut yarn in each square of the chart. At 40 × 30 knots the finished piece is about 27 × 20 cm (10.7 × 8.0 in), so cut your canvas with at least five extra squares on every side for turning under. The chart needs 1,200 knots in total; the materials list gives the count for each colour. Work across the canvas row by row from the bottom up, so the pile of the finished rows lies away from you. Make it longer by repeating the bands; the design looks just as good as a long runner.
Colour plan
Rust does the most work, 40% of the 1,200 knots, followed by Mustard at 35%. Every colour is used at least 120 times, so there are no tiny one-off details to hunt for. Every square of the grid is filled.
Working notes
Hook it in 30 rows from the bottom; the busiest row changes colour 20 times, so cut yarn for a few rows at a time. 20 squares stand alone in their colour, with no same-coloured neighbour along a side.
