About this design
The taco shell is a half-moon of Cheddar with a few Butterscotch spots for toasted texture. Inside, the filling is Rust flecked with Brown, topped with a jumble of Kiwi Lime lettuce, Tomato and Pastel Yellow cheese peeking over the rim. It is wider than it is tall, so it sits nicely on a fridge door or as part of a food-themed set.
You will need roughly 76 Cheddar, 42 Black, 30 Rust, 11 Kiwi Lime, 6 Tomato, 5 Pastel Yellow, 5 Brown and 5 Butterscotch beads. Buy a few spares of each, because the odd bead always rolls away.
Placing the beads
At 19 × 12 beads the design fits easily on one large square pegboard. The topping row mixes several colours; place it one bead at a time from the chart.
Ironing and finishing
Ironing is a job for an adult. Cover the beads with ironing paper, set a dry iron to medium and move it in slow circles until the beads just begin to merge, then let it cool, turn it over and press the back. Cool it flat under a heavy book so it stays straight. At about 9.5 × 6 cm in midi beads it makes a magnet, a coaster or a taco-night decoration.
Colour plan
Perler 80-19057 Cheddar does the most work, 42% of the 180 beads, followed by Perler 80-19018 Black at 23%. Perler 80-15211 Tomato (6), Perler 80-19056 Pastel Yellow (5), Perler 80-19012 Brown (5) and Perler 80-19090 Butterscotch (5) are used only a little: small details worth marking on the chart so you don't miss them. 21% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
All the beads touch along a full side, so it irons into one solid piece.
