About this design
The lolly is three bands: Pink at the top with a White shine, then Orange, then Yellow. A Tan stick comes out of the bottom. Each band is a simple fill, so it is a good pattern for practising straight rows. Swap the colours for your favourite flavour; any three colours will work as long as they contrast.
Bead counts: 40 Black, 28 Pink, 24 Orange, 24 Yellow, 8 Tan and 2 White, 126 beads in all. Buy a few spares of each colour, because the odd bead always rolls away.
Placing the beads
At 16 × 16 beads the design fits on one large 29 × 29 square pegboard with room to spare. The stick is two beads wide; press it on firmly, as it holds the whole lolly if you hang it.
Ironing and finishing
An adult should do the ironing. Use ironing paper, a medium dry iron and slow circular movements, lifting the paper to check after about ten seconds. Iron the back once the front has cooled, and leave it under a book so it stays flat. Finished, it is about 8 × 8 cm, a good size for a summer magnet or a bag charm.
Colour plan
Perler 80-19018 Black does the most work, 32% of the 126 beads, followed by Perler 80-19083 Pink at 22%. Perler 80-19035 Tan (8) and Perler 80-19001 White (2) are used only a little: small details worth marking on the chart so you don't miss them. 51% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
All the beads touch along a full side, so it irons into one solid piece.
