About this design
Two Purple note heads sit at the bottom, each with a stem rising to a beam across the top: a pair of quavers, or eighth notes. The black outline keeps the stems strong enough to hang. It makes a thank-you gift for a music teacher or a badge for a choir or band.
Bead counts: 72 Black and 64 Purple, 136 beads in all. Buy a few spares of each colour, because the odd bead always rolls away.
Placing the beads
The pattern is 16 × 14, so it sits inside one large square pegboard; centre it so there is a margin all round. The stems are thin; make sure the outline beads on both sides of each stem are in place.
Ironing and finishing
With an adult at the iron, fuse the front under ironing paper on a medium setting until the holes start to close, then flip it and do the back. Cool it under something heavy to stop it curling. The finished piece is roughly 8 × 7 cm and works well as a magnet or a music teacher gift.
Colour plan
Perler 80-19018 Black does the most work, 53% of the 136 beads, followed by Perler 80-19007 Purple at 47%. Every colour is used at least 64 times, so there are no tiny one-off details to hunt for. 39% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
All the beads touch along a full side, so it irons into one solid piece.
