About this design
A zig-zag bolt of Yellow inside a black outline, slanting from top right to bottom left. Two colours and about 95 beads make it one of the fastest designs in the library, so it is a good warm-up, a party activity for younger children or a badge for a sports team.
Bead counts: 54 Yellow and 41 Black, 95 beads in all. Buy a few spares of each colour, because the odd bead always rolls away.
Placing the beads
At 13 × 15 beads the design fits on one large 29 × 29 square pegboard with room to spare. The bolt narrows to a point at the bottom; check the last few beads are joined along an edge.
Ironing and finishing
With an adult at the iron, fuse the front under ironing paper on a medium setting until the holes start to close, then flip it and do the back. Cool it under something heavy to stop it curling. The finished piece is roughly 6.5 × 7.5 cm and works well as a badge, a magnet or a keyring.
Colour plan
Perler 80-19003 Yellow does the most work, 57% of the 95 beads, followed by Perler 80-19018 Black at 43%. Every colour is used at least 41 times, so there are no tiny one-off details to hunt for. 51% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
All the beads touch along a full side, so it irons into one solid piece.
