About this design
A classic heart in Red, with a short White shine near the top left and a few Cherry beads along the lower right for shading. The outline is black, so the heart stands out on any background. It is small and quick, and a handful of them makes a garland, a set of Valentine’s cards or table decorations for a wedding.
Bead counts: 96 Red, 36 Black, 7 Cherry and 5 White, 144 beads in all. Buy a few spares of each colour, because the odd bead always rolls away.
Placing the beads
The pattern is 15 × 14, so it sits inside one large square pegboard; centre it so there is a margin all round. Fill row by row from the top; the heart narrows by one bead each side, which is easy to follow.
Ironing and finishing
With an adult at the iron, fuse the front under ironing paper on a medium setting until the holes start to close, then flip it and do the back. Cool it under something heavy to stop it curling. The finished piece is roughly 7.5 × 7 cm and works well as a card, a magnet or a garland.
Colour plan
Perler 80-19005 Red does the most work, 67% of the 144 beads, followed by Perler 80-19018 Black at 25%. Perler 80-15961 Cherry (7) and Perler 80-19001 White (5) are used only a little: small details worth marking on the chart so you don't miss them. 31% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
All the beads touch along a full side, so it irons into one solid piece.
