About this design

Eight red hearts run down the centre of this band, each separated from the next by a few rows of blush pink. The hearts are opaque red with a few rows of darker cherry along the lower right edge, which gives each one a rounded, slightly three-dimensional look against the flat pink background. The half-bead offset of peyote rounds off the lobes at the top and gives the point at the bottom a smooth taper. It uses only three colours, so it is a good second project after a simple striped band.

How to make it

Work the band in even-count peyote with size 11/0 cylinder beads. String the beads for the first two rows from the word chart, then follow it row by row: each new row adds one bead in every other column, which is why the chart columns are offset by half a bead. At 12 columns the band is about 1.6 cm wide, and 104 rows make roughly 17 cm (about 6.6 in) before the clasp; add or remove whole repeats at either end to fit your wrist. Make a matching pair for a friendship gift by swapping the red for purple or blue in the editor.

Opaque blush does the most work, 51% of the 1,248 beads, followed by Opaque red at 40%. Every colour is used at least 112 times, so there are no tiny one-off details to hunt for. Every square of the grid is filled.
