About this design
The berry is Tomato red, tapering to a rounded point, with Pastel Yellow seeds scattered in a staggered pattern across it. A crown of Green leaves spreads over the top with a short stalk, outlined in Black like the rest of the fruit. With only four colours and a symmetrical shape, it is quick to make and pairs well with the other fruit designs in the library.
You will need roughly 77 Tomato, 46 Black, 21 Green and 11 Pastel Yellow beads. Buy a few spares of each, because the odd bead always rolls away.
Placing the beads
At 15 × 15 beads the design fits easily on one large square pegboard. Place the seeds as you go, row by row, rather than coming back for them.
Ironing and finishing
Ironing is a job for an adult. Cover the beads with ironing paper, set a dry iron to medium and move it in slow circles until the beads just begin to merge, then let it cool, turn it over and press the back. Cool it flat under a heavy book so it stays straight. At about 7.5 × 7.5 cm in midi beads it makes a magnet, a keyring or a summer-party decoration.
Colour plan
Perler 80-15211 Tomato does the most work, 50% of the 155 beads, followed by Perler 80-19018 Black at 30%. Every colour is used at least 11 times, so there are no tiny one-off details to hunt for. 31% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
All the beads touch along a full side, so it irons into one solid piece.
