About this design
The fruit is a rounded block of Yellow with Cheddar dots set in a diagonal grid, the way a real pineapple’s skin looks. The crown is a fan of Green and Dark Green leaves. It is a bright, summery design, and the dot grid is easy to follow because it repeats every four beads.
Bead counts: 57 Yellow, 43 Black, 19 Cheddar, 10 Green and 7 Dark Green, 136 beads in all. Buy a few spares of each colour, because the odd bead always rolls away.
Placing the beads
One large square pegboard (29 × 29 pegs) holds the whole 17 × 15 design. Lay the dots as you go row by row, counting along from the outline each time. Check each row against the chart before you move on, as one stray bead is hard to fix after ironing.
Ironing and finishing
Ironing is a job for an adult. Cover the beads with ironing paper, set a dry iron to medium and move it in slow circles until the beads just begin to merge. Let it cool, turn it over and press the back, then cool it flat under a heavy book. At about 8.5 × 7.5 cm it makes a magnet or a summer-party favour.
Colour plan
Perler 80-19003 Yellow does the most work, 42% of the 136 beads, followed by Perler 80-19018 Black at 32%. Perler 80-19010 Dark Green (7) is used only a little: small details worth marking on the chart so you don't miss them. 47% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
All the beads touch along a full side, so it irons into one solid piece.
