About this design
The spines are Brown with Gingerbread mixed in, and the top edge is a row of single-bead spikes. The face on the right is Tan with a black eye and a pointed snout that ends in a black nose. Two small feet peek out underneath. It is an easy autumn make and looks good with the mushroom pattern for a woodland scene.
Bead counts: 78 Brown, 44 Tan, 40 Gingerbread and 39 Black, 201 beads in all. Buy a few spares of each colour, because the odd bead always rolls away.
Placing the beads
You need one large square pegboard for this 20 × 14 design. Each spike on top is a single bead on the edge of the body; check it sits directly above a body bead so it fuses in.
Ironing and finishing
With an adult at the iron, fuse the front under ironing paper on a medium setting until the holes start to close, then flip it and do the back. Cool it under something heavy to stop it curling. The finished piece is roughly 10 × 7 cm and works well as a magnet or an autumn table decoration.
Colour plan
Perler 80-19012 Brown does the most work, 39% of the 201 beads, followed by Perler 80-19035 Tan at 22%. Every colour is used at least 39 times, so there are no tiny one-off details to hunt for. 28% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
All the beads touch along a full side, so it irons into one solid piece.
