About this design
The head is White with big Black patches, and the lower half is a wide Flamingo muzzle with two black nostrils. Short Creme horns stick out at the top corners, and the ears point sideways. The patches are not symmetrical, which is part of the charm: if you want your cow to look different, move them around, as long as the outline stays the same.
Bead counts: 89 Black, 72 Flamingo, 51 White and 10 Creme, 222 beads in all. Buy a few spares of each colour, because the odd bead always rolls away.
Placing the beads
You need one large square pegboard for this 20 × 15 design. The horns are thin, so check that every horn bead touches the head before you iron.
Ironing and finishing
Ironing is a job for an adult. Cover the beads with ironing paper, set a dry iron to medium and move it in slow circles until the beads just begin to merge. Let it cool, turn it over and press the back, then cool it flat under a heavy book. At about 10 × 7.5 cm it makes a magnet or a farm-set piece alongside the pig and the sheep.
Colour plan
Perler 80-19018 Black does the most work, 40% of the 222 beads, followed by Perler 80-15203 Flamingo at 32%. Every colour is used at least 10 times, so there are no tiny one-off details to hunt for. 26% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
All the beads touch along a full side, so it irons into one solid piece.
