About this design
The gingerbread man is Light Brown with a round head, outstretched arms and two legs. Lines of White icing trim his hands and feet, his eyes are two Black beads and his smile is a short White line. Two Tomato buttons run down his tummy. He is symmetrical and only three colours plus the outline, which makes him a quick and festive project for the whole family.
You will need roughly 87 Light Brown, 58 Black, 10 White and 2 Tomato beads. Buy a few spares of each, because the odd bead always rolls away.
Placing the beads
At 17 × 15 beads the design fits easily on one large square pegboard. Thread a loop of ribbon through a gap near the top after ironing to hang him on the tree.
Ironing and finishing
Ironing is a job for an adult. Cover the beads with ironing paper, set a dry iron to medium and move it in slow circles until the beads just begin to merge, then let it cool, turn it over and press the back. Cool it flat under a heavy book so it stays straight. At about 8.5 × 7.5 cm in midi beads it makes a Christmas tree ornament, a gift tag or a card decoration.
Colour plan
Perler 80-19021 Light Brown does the most work, 55% of the 157 beads, followed by Perler 80-19018 Black at 37%. Perler 80-15211 Tomato (2) is used only a little: small details worth marking on the chart so you don't miss them. 38% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
All the beads touch along a full side, so it irons into one solid piece.
