About this design

The roof is Brown with a thick line of White icing along its edges, and a row of Red and Green sweets sits along the eaves. The walls are Brown with two Yellow-lit windows, a Red door and a few more sweets. It goes well with the gingerbread man for a matching pair of Christmas decorations.

Bead counts: 71 Brown, 68 Black, 30 White, 8 Red, 5 Green and 2 Yellow, 184 beads in all. Buy a few spares of each colour, because the odd bead always rolls away.

Placing the beads

You need one large square pegboard for this 19 × 16 design. Lay the black outline of the roof and the door frame first; the windows and sweets then fall into place in the brown.

Ironing and finishing

Ask an adult to iron it: ironing paper on top, a medium dry iron, slow circles, and stop when the beads are joined but the holes are still open if you want a lighter look. Turn it over, press the back and cool it flat. At about 9.5 × 8 cm it is just right for a tree ornament or a Christmas card.

Colour plan

Perler 80-19012 Brown does the most work, 39% of the 184 beads, followed by Perler 80-19018 Black at 37%. Perler 80-19005 Red (8), Perler 80-19080 Bright Green (5) and Perler 80-19003 Yellow (2) are used only a little: small details worth marking on the chart so you don't miss them. 39% of the grid is left empty.

Working notes

All the beads touch along a full side, so it irons into one solid piece.
