About this design
The head and neck are Pink, curving round in an S down to an oval body with a Flamingo wing. The beak is White edged in black, and the single black leg drops straight down to a small foot. It is a tall, light design with only a few beads, so it is quick to make and fun to hang in a summer window.
Bead counts: 59 Black, 51 Pink, 10 Flamingo and 2 White, 122 beads in all. Buy a few spares of each colour, because the odd bead always rolls away.
Placing the beads
One large square pegboard (29 × 29 pegs) holds the whole 17 × 19 design. The leg is two beads wide and long; press it on well and iron it a little longer so it does not snap off. Check each row against the chart before you move on, as one stray bead is hard to fix after ironing.
Ironing and finishing
Ask an adult to iron it: ironing paper on top, a medium dry iron, slow circles, and stop when the beads are joined but the holes are still open if you want a lighter look. Turn it over, press the back and cool it flat. At about 8.5 × 9.5 cm it is just right for a summer decoration or a pool-party favour.
Colour plan
Perler 80-19018 Black does the most work, 48% of the 122 beads, followed by Perler 80-19083 Pink at 42%. Perler 80-19001 White (2) is used only a little: small details worth marking on the chart so you don't miss them. 62% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
All the beads touch along a full side, so it irons into one solid piece.
