About this design

The rows of lavender start wide at the bottom of the picture and narrow towards the horizon, which gives a strong sense of distance. Each row is DMC 208 Lavender Very Dark flecked with 210 Lavender Medium, and the strips of earth between them are 3346 Hunter Green near the front and 3347 Yellow Green Medium further back. A dark 3364 Pine Green hedge runs along the horizon. Above it, the sky is four soft bands, 3325 Baby Blue Light, 3753 Antique Blue, 3770 Tawny and 3823 Yellow Ultra Pale, with a pale 745 sun low on the right.

How to work it

The chart has 4,800 drills in 10 colours. Work the sky first in long horizontal rows, then the field from the bottom up. The converging rows are the heart of the picture, so check the angle of each one against the chart every ten drills.

Size and display

With 2.5 mm square drills the picture is 80 × 60 drills, about 20 × 15 cm. The landscape format sits well above a sofa or bed, and a white or limed-oak frame keeps it light. The materials table lists every colour with a 10% allowance for drills that go astray.

Colour plan

DMC 208 Lavender Very Dark does the most work, 23% of the 4,800 drills, followed by DMC 3346 Hunter Green at 19%. Every colour is used at least 76 times, so there are no tiny one-off details to hunt for. Every square of the grid is filled.

Working notes

1 square stands alone in its colour, with no same-coloured neighbour along a side; place those drills one at a time. The busiest row changes colour 50 times.
