About this design
The snowman has two round sections of B5200 Snow White, a small head and a larger body. A DMC 310 Black top hat sits on his head, his eyes are two black stitches, and a 740 Tangerine carrot nose points to the right. A 321 Red scarf wraps his neck, three black coal buttons run down his front and two 433 Brown Medium twig arms stick out at the sides. A line of 3753 pale blue at the base suggests snow on the ground.
How to work it
On white Aida you can leave the snowman unstitched and just stitch the details, but stitching him in Snow White makes him brighter. Work the hat and scarf first, then the body, and add the buttons, eyes and nose last. Outline the body in a pale grey backstitch if he disappears into the fabric.
Finishing ideas
At 17 × 22 stitches the design is about 1.2 × 1.6 inches (3.1 × 4.0 cm) on 14-count Aida and 0.9 × 1.2 inches on 18-count. Perfect for Christmas cards, felt-backed tree ornaments or a winter hoop on blue Aida.
Colour plan
DMC B5200 Snow White does the most work, 68% of the 240 stitches, followed by DMC 310 Black at 15%. DMC 433 Brown Med (6) and DMC 740 Tangerine (3) are used only a little: small details worth marking on the chart so you don't miss them. 36% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
13 squares stand alone in their colour, with no same-coloured neighbour along a side; stitch those as you pass rather than starting a new thread for each. The busiest row changes colour 6 times.
Anchor equivalents
The nearest Anchor colour for each DMC colour in this pattern, measured as ΔE 2000: up to 3 is very close, up to 6 close, up to 10 approximate.
