About this design
The frog is Chartreuse Bright (704) with Kelly Green (702) shading and a Green (699) outline. Its big eyes sit on top of the head, Blanc with square Black pupils, and there are Rose (3326) cheeks and a small mouth. It is symmetrical and cheerful, a good project for children learning to stitch.
Stitch counts: 105 in 704 (Chartreuse Bright), 65 in 699 (Green), 28 in BLANC (White), 27 in 702 (Kelly Green), 8 in 310 (Black) and 8 in 3326 (Rose Light), 241 full cross stitches in all. One skein of each colour is plenty.
How to work it
Use two strands on 14-count Aida and start from the middle: fold the fabric in four to find the centre and match it to the centre of the chart. Stitch the eyes first; they sit at the top and set the width of the face.
Finishing ideas
Finished, it measures roughly 1.2 × 1.1 inches on 14-count (0.9 × 0.9 inches on 18-count), so a 4-inch hoop suits it. It is also the right size for a child’s card or a bag tag.
Colour plan
DMC 704 Chartreuse Bright does the most work, 44% of the 241 stitches, followed by DMC 699 Green at 27%. DMC 310 Black (8) and DMC 3326 Rose Light (8) are used only a little: small details worth marking on the chart so you don't miss them. 11% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
12 squares stand alone in their colour, with no same-coloured neighbour along a side; stitch those as you pass rather than starting a new thread for each. The busiest row changes colour 10 times.
Anchor equivalents
The nearest Anchor colour for each DMC colour in this pattern, measured as ΔE 2000: up to 3 is very close, up to 6 close, up to 10 approximate.
