About this design
Three bands make the sweet: a Blanc tip, a Tangerine (740) middle and a Yellow (743) base, all inside a Black (310) outline that steps in evenly to a point. It is one of the quickest designs in the library and works well repeated as a border or on a treat bag.
Stitch counts: 38 in 310 (Black), 38 in 743 (Yellow Med), 31 in 740 (Tangerine) and 8 in BLANC (White), 115 full cross stitches in all. One skein of each colour is plenty.
How to work it
Find the centre of your fabric and of the chart, and begin there so the design sits in the middle. Each band is a straight fill; count the width of each row from the outline. Two strands on 14-count is the usual choice.
Finishing ideas
Finished, it measures roughly 0.9 × 1.1 inches on 14-count (0.7 × 0.8 inches on 18-count), so a 4-inch hoop suits it. It is also the right size for a Halloween card, a treat-bag patch or a border.
Colour plan
DMC 310 Black does the most work, 33% of the 115 stitches, followed by DMC 743 Yellow Med at 33%. DMC BLANC White (8) is used only a little: small details worth marking on the chart so you don't miss them. 41% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
3 squares stand alone in their colour, with no same-coloured neighbour along a side; stitch those as you pass rather than starting a new thread for each. The busiest row changes colour 4 times.
Anchor equivalents
The nearest Anchor colour for each DMC colour in this pattern, measured as ΔE 2000: up to 3 is very close, up to 6 close, up to 10 approximate.
