About this design

The globe fills most of the plate. Its oceans are bright blue, and irregular continents in bright green and green spread across it. White ice caps cover the top and bottom, and a few white clouds float over the sea. The lower right edge is shaded in dark blue and dark green, as if the sun is shining from the upper left. Single white pieces scattered across the black background are the stars.

How to build it

The whole picture fits one 32 × 32 baseplate, about 25.6 cm (10 inches) square, and uses 1,024 1 × 1 pieces. Build the round outline first, then the continents, then the ocean; leave the stars until the end. Sort the pieces by colour into small trays before you start, and use the heavier chart lines every 16 pieces to keep your place on the plate. The finished mosaic can be framed, hung with adhesive strips or simply stood on a shelf.

Colour plan

Black does the most work, 46% of the 1,024 pieces, followed by Bright blue at 31%. Every colour is used at least 31 times, so there are no tiny one-off details to hunt for. Every square of the grid is filled.

Working notes

On a baseplate, grouping each row's same-coloured studs into 1×N plates (up to 1×8) builds it from about 303 parts instead of 1,024 single studs.
