About this design
The plate is divided into sixteen squares, eight pieces each, that alternate like a checkerboard. One set of squares holds a pearl gold diamond around a turquoise centre with navy corners, and the other holds a white diamond around a navy centre with turquoise corners, so each tile is the colour negative of its neighbours. The pattern is calm, modern and easy to build, and it works as wall art or as a coaster set if you split the plate into four.
How to build it
The whole picture fits one 32 × 32 baseplate, about 25.6 cm (10 inches) square, and uses 1,024 1 × 1 pieces. Build one tile of each kind first; every other tile is a copy, so the rest goes quickly. Sort the pieces by colour into small trays before you start, and use the heavier chart lines every 16 pieces to keep your place on the plate. The finished mosaic can be framed, hung with adhesive strips or simply stood on a shelf.
Colour plan
Dark blue does the most work, 41% of the 1,024 pieces, followed by Dark turquoise at 41%. Every colour is used at least 96 times, so there are no tiny one-off details to hunt for. Every square of the grid is filled.
Working notes
On a baseplate, grouping each row's same-coloured studs into 1×N plates (up to 1×8) builds it from about 448 parts instead of 1,024 single studs.
