About this design

This is a beginner-friendly mosaic: one large shape, a plain background and only six colours. The heart fills most of the plate and is outlined in reddish brown, which gives it a crisp edge against the light pink. Inside, it is bright red, with a band of dark red running down the lower right side to suggest a rounded, three-dimensional shape lit from the top left. A curved white shine near the upper left lobe completes the effect, like light reflecting on a glossy surface. The background has a regular scatter of bright pink dots, which stops the large pink area from looking flat.

How to build it

The design fills a single 32 × 32 baseplate, about 25.6 cm (10 inches) square, and it is a good first mosaic because most rows are long runs of red. Build the outline first, then fill the inside, then the background. If you want to personalise it, open the chart in the editor and add initials in white inside the heart, or change the red to purple or blue. It makes a lovely gift framed on a wall or propped on a desk.

Colour plan

Light pink does the most work, 44% of the 1,024 pieces, followed by Bright red at 43%. Bright pink (10) and White (5) are used only a little: small details worth marking on the chart so you don't miss them. Every square of the grid is filled.

Working notes

On a baseplate, grouping each row's same-coloured studs into 1×N plates (up to 1×8) builds it from about 268 parts instead of 1,024 single studs.
