About this design
The arcs were computed from circles rather than drawn by hand, so each colour band is the same thickness all the way round: red outermost, then orange, yellow, green, blue and violet, the order a real rainbow shows. Two pale clouds sit over the ends.
How to use it
Use it for a baby announcement, a “rainbow after the storm” card, a weather lesson or a bright fuse bead decoration. It makes a cheerful nursery cross stitch with six thread colours plus white.
Size and bead counts
The picture fills 160 of the 256 squares in its grid, within an area 16 squares wide and 12 tall; the rest stay empty. It uses 9 colours: dark blue 52 (#222233), white 28 (#EEFFFF), red 18 (#EE3333), orange 16 (#FF8822), green 12 (#55BB44), light blue 12 (#CCDDEE), yellow 10 (#FFDD33), blue 6 (#3388EE), purple 6 (#8855CC). Made with 5 mm fuse beads it measures about 8.0 × 6.0 cm and fits on one standard 29 × 29 pegboard. Stitched on 14-count Aida it is about 2.9 × 2.2 cm, or 3.7 × 2.8 cm on 11-count, so add a few centimetres of fabric on every side for the hoop.
Colour plan
#222233 does the most work, 33% of the 160 pixels, followed by #EEFFFF at 18%. #3388EE (6) and #8855CC (6) are used only a little: small details worth marking on the chart so you don't miss them. 38% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
It is 16 × 16 pixels; at 8× scale it becomes 128 × 128. The busiest row changes colour 10 times.
