About this design

Yellow petals surround a square Brown seed head with a scattering of Light Brown to show the seeds. A Green stem with two leaves runs down from the flower. At 22 beads tall it is the tallest flower in the set, so it works well as a bookmark topper or a plant-pot marker.

Bead counts: 107 Black, 54 Yellow, 31 Brown, 14 Light Brown and 9 Green, 215 beads in all. Buy a few spares of each colour, because the odd bead always rolls away.

Placing the beads

The pattern is 17 × 22, so it sits inside one large square pegboard; centre it so there is a margin all round. The stem is one bead wide; press it on firmly and iron it a little longer so it is strong.

Ironing and finishing

An adult should do the ironing. Use ironing paper, a medium dry iron and slow circular movements, lifting the paper to check after about ten seconds. Iron the back once the front has cooled, and leave it under a book so it stays flat. Finished, it is about 8.5 × 11 cm, a good size for a plant-pot marker or a card.

Colour plan

Perler 80-19018 Black does the most work, 50% of the 215 beads, followed by Perler 80-19003 Yellow at 25%. Perler 80-19080 Bright Green (9) is used only a little: small details worth marking on the chart so you don't miss them. 43% of the grid is left empty.

Working notes

All the beads touch along a full side, so it irons into one solid piece.
