About this design
This is the simplest animal in the set: a big White body with a bumpy outline for the fleece, a Black face on the right with one white eye, and four short black legs. Two colours means very little sorting, so it suits a first project or a group of children working together. It also looks good in a row on a windowsill for spring.
Bead counts: 129 White and 74 Black, 203 beads in all. Buy a few spares of each colour, because the odd bead always rolls away.
Placing the beads
At 20 × 14 beads the design fits on one large 29 × 29 square pegboard with room to spare. The legs are two beads wide; press them on firmly so they fuse to the body.
Ironing and finishing
An adult should do the ironing. Use ironing paper, a medium dry iron and slow circular movements, lifting the paper to check after about ten seconds. Iron the back once the front has cooled, and leave it under a book so it stays flat. Finished, it is about 10 × 7 cm, a good size for a spring decoration or an Easter card.
Colour plan
Perler 80-19001 White does the most work, 64% of the 203 beads, followed by Perler 80-19018 Black at 36%. Every colour is used at least 74 times, so there are no tiny one-off details to hunt for. 28% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
All the beads touch along a full side, so it irons into one solid piece.
