About this design

The bunny uses the full height of a large square pegboard: the ears take up about a third of the height, which is what makes the silhouette unmistakable. Inside each ear is a Flamingo pink stripe that narrows to a point at the base. The face is kept simple — two tall black eyes set wide apart, a single Bubblegum bead for the nose and a small black “w” for the mouth. Light Grey runs down the outer edges of the head and body as gentle shading, and two little front paws are outlined in black near the bottom.

Bead counts: 21 White, 119 Black, 47 Light Grey, 36 Flamingo and 1 Bubblegum.

Placing the beads

Because the design is 29 rows tall, start at the very top row of the pegboard so nothing runs off the bottom. With so much white, it is easy to lose count, so place the black outline and the eyes first and use them as landmarks. A pair of tweezers helps with the single-bead details around the nose and mouth.

Ironing and finishing

An adult should handle the iron. White beads show scorch marks more than any other colour, so use medium heat, keep the ironing paper flat and stop as soon as the beads have fused; you can always give it a few more seconds. Let it cool, turn it over and press the back lightly. Weighted under a book while it cools, the bunny ends up about 10.5 × 14.5 cm — nice for a spring window decoration or the front of a handmade card box.

Working notes

All the beads touch along a full side, so it irons into one solid piece.
