About this design

The crown is Yellow with three tall points, each tipped with a Tomato red bead. A row of jewels runs across the middle: Light Blue, Tomato and Green, mirrored on each side. The base band is Cheddar, a slightly deeper gold, which gives the crown a sense of depth. It is a favourite for princess and knight parties.

You will need roughly 67 Yellow, 47 Black, 15 Cheddar, 8 Tomato, 2 Light Blue and 1 Green beads. Buy a few spares of each, because the odd bead always rolls away.

Placing the beads

At 17 × 10 beads the design fits easily on one large square pegboard. Glue a hair clip or a safety pin to the back to turn it into a wearable badge.

Ironing and finishing

Ironing is a job for an adult. Cover the beads with ironing paper, set a dry iron to medium and move it in slow circles until the beads just begin to merge, then let it cool, turn it over and press the back. Cool it flat under a heavy book so it stays straight. At about 8.5 × 5 cm in midi beads it makes a party badge, a hair clip or a cake topper.

Perler 80-15211 Tomato (8), Perler 80-19009 Light Blue (2) and Perler 80-19080 Bright Green (1) are used only a little: small details worth marking on the chart so you don't miss them. 18% of the grid is left empty.

Working notes

All the beads touch along a full side, so it irons into one solid piece.
