MARD codes are a letter series followed by a number, such as A4, C7 or H7, and many patterns shared online, especially by Chinese bead artists, list their colours this way. MARD does not publish colour names for these codes, so the names in this table are our own descriptions of the colour, not official names.
Every match is computed with CIEDE2000, the colour-difference formula that tracks how people actually perceive colour, from our documented RGB values (how colour matching works). MARD has almost three times as many colours as the Perler range we track, so several MARD shades often lead to the same Perler bead, and some pale or muted MARD tints have no close Perler match at all; the rating shows which.
To convert a whole design, choose Perler as the palette in the bead pattern editor and the key and bead counts update. Check the bead size on your packs as well: a pattern is drawn for one size of bead, and the finished piece scales with it.

Frequently asked questions
Why are the MARD colour names descriptive?
MARD identifies its colours by code only. To make the table readable we describe each colour, for example Light orange, but the code is what you buy by.
Why do several MARD codes share one Perler bead?
MARD has 291 colours in the range we track and Perler about 100, so close MARD shades often have the same nearest Perler colour.
How accurate are the colours?
They come from a community-maintained bead colour dataset sampled from real beads and photos. Screens show colours differently, so compare with a physical bead before buying a large quantity.
Can I iron MARD and Perler beads together?
Beads of the same size usually fuse together, but brands can melt at slightly different speeds. Iron a small test piece first.
