About this design
Three round Green leaves meet in the middle, each with a Kiwi Lime highlight, and a Dark Green stem curls down and to the left. It is the traditional three-leaf shamrock, not a four-leaf clover. Four colours and a simple shape make it a good St Patrick’s Day class project.
Bead counts: 70 Green, 59 Black, 5 Dark Green and 4 Kiwi Lime, 138 beads in all. Buy a few spares of each colour, because the odd bead always rolls away.
Placing the beads
One large square pegboard (29 × 29 pegs) holds the whole 15 × 15 design. The stem steps diagonally, and each step touches the next along an edge; place it bead by bead from the leaves down. Check each row against the chart before you move on, as one stray bead is hard to fix after ironing.
Ironing and finishing
With an adult at the iron, fuse the front under ironing paper on a medium setting until the holes start to close, then flip it and do the back. Cool it under something heavy to stop it curling. The finished piece is roughly 7.5 × 7.5 cm and works well as a badge, a magnet or a card.
Colour plan
Perler 80-19080 Bright Green does the most work, 51% of the 138 beads, followed by Perler 80-19018 Black at 43%. Perler 80-19010 Dark Green (5) and Perler 80-19061 Kiwi Lime (4) are used only a little: small details worth marking on the chart so you don't miss them. 39% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
All the beads touch along a full side, so it irons into one solid piece.
