About this design
A ring of Yellow with a Lemon lining surrounds a White centre, and rays shoot out in eight directions: Red across the top and sides, Light Blue below. There is no black outline, so it looks bright on a dark background. It suits New Year’s Eve, bonfire night or the Fourth of July; change the ray colours to match.
Bead counts: 26 Red, 18 Yellow, 18 Light Blue, 12 Lemon and 9 White, 83 beads in all. Buy a few spares of each colour, because the odd bead always rolls away.
Placing the beads
You need one large square pegboard for this 17 × 15 design. The diagonal rays step one bead at a time and every step shares an edge with the next, but they are thin, so iron a little longer than usual.
Ironing and finishing
With an adult at the iron, fuse the front under ironing paper on a medium setting until the holes start to close, then flip it and do the back. Cool it under something heavy to stop it curling. The finished piece is roughly 8.5 × 7.5 cm and works well as a window decoration or a party table scatter.
Colour plan
Perler 80-19005 Red does the most work, 31% of the 83 beads, followed by Perler 80-19003 Yellow at 22%. Perler 80-19001 White (9) is used only a little: small details worth marking on the chart so you don't miss them. 67% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
All the beads touch along a full side, so it irons into one solid piece.
