About this design

The ghost is White inside a Black outline, with two big square eyes and a small mouth. Its hem has three points; the dips between them are Transparent clear beads so the bottom row stays one unbroken run. Swap the White for glow-in-the-dark pony beads if you can find them, for a ghost that glows at night.

Bead counts: 67 Opaque white, 43 Opaque black and 4 Transparent clear, 114 pony beads in all.

Lacing it

The last row mixes black and clear beads, so check its order against the row list before you tie off. Work down the row list one row at a time: string the beads on one end of the cord, pass the other end back through them from the other side, and pull the row snug against the one above. The pattern has 12 rows, and you need about 209 cm of cord: that allows for both ends passing through every row, a loop at the top and enough to tie off.

Finishing

After the last row, tie the two ends in a tight double knot under the final bead, add a drop of glue if the cord is slippery, and trim the tails. The finished piece is about 6.6 cm wide and 10.8 cm long with standard pony beads, a good size for a Halloween keychain or a treat-bag charm.

Colour plan

Opaque white does the most work, 59% of the 114 beads, followed by Opaque black at 38%. Transparent clear (4) is used only a little: small details worth marking on the chart so you don't miss them. 14% of the grid is left empty.

Working notes

It is laced in 12 rows from the top, and needs about 209 cm of cord. Every row is one unbroken run of beads, centred under the row above, so it laces exactly as charted.
