About this design
The egg is made of bands: Sky blue at the top, a Yellow stripe, a band of Pink with yellow dots, Sky blue with Purple dots and a Yellow base. There is no outline, which keeps it soft and spring-like. Change the band colours to make a whole basket of different eggs.
Bead counts: 37 Opaque sky blue, 27 Opaque yellow, 22 Opaque pink and 3 Opaque purple, 89 pony beads in all.
Lacing it
The dotted rows alternate colours bead by bead, so lace them from the row list rather than the picture. Work down the row list one row at a time: string the beads on one end of the cord, pass the other end back through them from the other side, and pull the row snug against the one above. The pattern has 13 rows, and you need about 181 cm of cord: that allows for both ends passing through every row, a loop at the top and enough to tie off.
Finishing
After the last row, tie the two ends in a tight double knot under the final bead, add a drop of glue if the cord is slippery, and trim the tails. The finished piece is about 6.6 cm wide and 11.7 cm long with standard pony beads, a good size for an Easter basket tag or a spring keychain.
Colour plan
Opaque sky blue does the most work, 42% of the 89 beads, followed by Opaque yellow at 30%. Opaque purple (3) is used only a little: small details worth marking on the chart so you don't miss them. 38% of the grid is left empty.
Working notes
It is laced in 13 rows from the top, and needs about 181 cm of cord. Every row is one unbroken run of beads, centred under the row above, so it laces exactly as charted.
